You walked in…
The room
stopped
My breath
caught
lodged
where my heart
should be
Your face.
I've never seen you before but my body is lying to me saying it has.
Eyes meet…
Voltage.
Current.
Wire touching wire.
My pulse
racing
no
stuttering
rewinding
Can't look away.
Won't.
Your mouth moves.
Saying something.
I hear nothing
except the blood
rushing in my ears
like a warning
like a recognition
like
oh
oh no
oh fuck
This is the moment everything changes and I can't stop it.
Hands shaking.
Why are my hands shaking?
You're walking closer…
The air thickens.
Every step you take
the room gets smaller
my lungs get tighter
the space between us
shrinking
burning
alive
Three feet away.
Two.
Desire is just fear that forgot which direction to run.
You say hi.
I forget language.
Mouth open.
Nothing.
Just standing here
short-circuiting
glitching
becoming malfunction
becoming want
so loud
it drowns out
every coherent thought
Your smile…
I want to
bite it
taste it
crawl inside it
One second.
That's all it took.
One look
and I am
unmade
rewired
ruined
for anyone
who isn't
you.
Poems don’t drink coffee, but poets do ☕

It is so difficult to pen down the jolt of want, the striking feeling of love approaching, and as you said, there is no "coherent thought". But you did it so nicely, capturing it's essence exactly as it is.
That’s special
